On Thursday, October 16th, parents, students, and teachers assembled in the CKSS gymnasium to attend the Academic Awards Night. This is an event hosted to commemorate students who achieved an average of over 80%, and to acknowledge students who excelled in particular subjects.

The evening began an hour before the actual event did. Students were ushered into the auditorium to be lined up alphabetically – a tedious and chaotic task. With the help of Link Crew Leaders and incredible teachers, the students were ready to go just in time.

Getting through over 400 award winners was no easy task, but with the help of the teachers involved, the event ran smoothly, wrapping up an hour later. The auditorium was packed with students talking to their friends and parents congratulating each other on the achievements of their children. Victoria Alexander, a student in Grade 12 who won multiple awards, spoke about the importance of hosting the Academic Awards Night: “It’s always enjoyable to come together with fellow classmates to acknowledge all of our achievements.”

The evening was a chance for the students to receive recognition for their hard work – and it sure paid off.
