On Friday the 13th of February, thirty students and four teachers from CKSS risked the superstition and flew six hours all the way to the sunny city of Los Angeles. This group of cosmetology, comm. tech, and theatre students met up with their tour guide, a ‘surfer dude’ named Chris, and began a fun filled six days in California.
This trip included many exciting studio tours where the group got to see famous sets and buildings used in many movies and TV shows. Some of the highlights include seeing where they film The Big Bang Theory, Ellen, and Pretty Little Liars. Students and teachers alike were also thrilled to get a chance to explore the set used to film the “Central Perk” scenes from the famous television show Friends, and even get a chance to pose on the famous couch.
Other highlights from the trip include getting to see many famous landmarks. The group went on tours of locations such as the TCL Chinese Theatre where they took many photos of famous people’s stars and hand prints. On the second last day of the adventure everyone got to spend a full day at universal studios where they bought souvenirs, went on rides, and even danced in order to skip the line. Every day was ended off with a great dinner at some iconic restaurants such as the Hard Rock Café and El Coyote Café.
On the last day, when everyone was bummed out waiting for the airplane home, they ironically met one last famous person. A couple of the teachers on the trip spotted Craig Kielburger himself in the airport and they quickly realized he was going on the same plane back to Toronto as they were. Everyone gathered together for one last group picture with the schools namesake before boarding the plane and making the long journey back to the cold winter weather.
